History

In October 1936, a group 200 men from the Jarrow marched 300 miles to London. Springwell Park is where the Jarrow Crusaders ate their corned beef sandwiches on that first day's journey to Chester-Le-Street. None of the 200 men who left Jarrow that day are still alive.
