Volunteers aged 14 - 15 years are needed to help Trading Standards Officers enforce the laws about under age sales of cigarettes, alcohol and other age restricted products to children. As a volunteer you will help undertake test purchases from shops with some of the exercises taking place during evenings and weekends.
Involvement is covered by rigorous Home Office guidelines to ensure the safety and well being of all volunteers.
Volunteers must be representative of their age (there should be no possibility that they could be thought to be over 18 years old for tobacco or alcohol). They should be freely willing to participate, with the permission of their parents. No fees are paid but we will provide a certificate to include in the child's school record of achievement.
To apply as a child volunteer, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Unfortunately, we only accept volunteers who reside in the South Tyneside Area. If you reside outside the borough and your child wishes to volunteer, please contact your local Trading Standards Service.
