Overview

South Tyneside Adult Carers Service (STACS) is a registered charity who provide support to local carers. 

The service encourages people to link with others to take some time out and share experiences. 


Support available

The service offers a range of support, including: 

  • advice and information
  • emotional support 
  • befriending 
  • advocacy 
  • carer forums
  • weekly groups  

The service has a parent carer group for local parents, including those who have a child / children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). 


Who can access the service

The service is for anyone.

This includes children and adults who looks after a family member, partner or friend who needs help and cannot cope without their support because of their:

  • illness
  • frailty
  • disability
  • mental health problem
  • addiction

How to access the service

You don't need a formal diagnosis to access the service.

The service accept self referrals, or referrals from an organisation working with you.   

Once a referral is received, they will contact you to arrange a home / office visit.
