South Tyneside Metropolitan Borough Council is looking for an outstanding leader to join its ambitious and high performing team.

Leadership Team

The Council's Senior Officer Leadership Team consists of the Chief Executive, three Corporate Directors - Business and Resources, Children, Adults and Health and Regeneration and Environment and a Head of Corporate and External Affairs.

Working closely with the Leader of the Council, Cabinet and Elected Members, this team drives the delivery of strategic priorities to make South Tyneside an outstanding place to live, invest and bring up families.

The Senior Officer Leadership Team works corporately, sharing ownership and supporting one another across all priority areas. Working with this team is a highly experienced team of Heads of Service and Corporate Leads.

High-profile role

This is a high-profile role with a broad and exciting portfolio, being able to direct and influence outcomes across the life-course.

You will lead a well-established team, supported by corporate and political commitment to the People Agenda.

Key priorities include:

  • leading the Children's Social Care service from 'Good' to 'Outstanding';
  • sustaining high attainment and inclusion across schools;
  • and working with partners to shape the future health and social care system

Your experience

You will have substantial experience of local authority care service management, commissioning and procuring services at a senior level within a social care or education environment or within the NHS.
