This year's unmissable annual parade will celebrate the magic and wonder of children's storytelling.

Visitors to the town will be whisked away into a world of fantasy as Once Upon a Time forms the central theme of the Summer Parade in South Shields - a key highlight of the South Tyneside Festival.

Magical creatures, courageous heroes, beautiful princesses and all kinds of animals are just some of the colourful characters which will feature in the whimsical parade alongside extravagant floats adorned with vivid colours and decorations, marching bands, stilt walkers, puppets and dance troupes all inspired by traditional folk tales, fables and children's stories.

The parade will take visitors on an enchanting journey of storytelling through South Shields on Saturday 1 July, embarking from the Town Hall along Fowler Street and Ocean Road to the seafront, where the magical entertainment will continue with live music and storytelling themed family friendly activities in Bents Park.

This event is brought to you by South Tyneside Council, with support from Port of Tyne, Arts Council England, and BBC Newcastle.
