We are establishing a multi agency Mental Capacity Act Co-ordinator Team, as part of a collaboration between the South of Tyne &amp; Wear NHS and the 3 respective local authorities; Gateshead, South Tyneside and Sunderland. The team will be centrally located in South Tyneside. This is a unique opportunity to be part of this exciting development.
The team will take a lead on developing strategic and organisational responses to the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA), Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, and will work with the Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy Services (IMCA) across South of Tyne.
The team will work within the statutory frameworks to empower and protect people aged over 16 years who may lack capacity to make some decisions for themselves and will ensure that Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards within the amended Mental Health Act are effectively and consistently implemented across Health and Social Care in Gateshead, South Tyneside and Sunderland.
We are looking to recruit the following team members who will share the base in South Tyneside :
1 Lead Co-ordinator (37 hours) - Sunderland - £40,101 - £42,732
1 Co-ordinator (37 hours) - Gateshead - £33,231 - £35,848
1 Co-ordinator (37hours) - South Tyneside - £34,140 - £34,991
There will also be business support attached 
The posts are initially for 2 years, either on a fixed term contract or via secondment which is subject to review. 
In return for your commitment you will be part of an active team that will be developing MCA implementation infrastructure. This will provide the opportunity to take a range of projects through from conception to completion.
Relevant professional qualification in health or social care and a good working knowledge of this area of legislation as applied to practice is required.
